New Tablecloth Pineapple 957
|
| |
06.04.2008
After a few exiting days, crocheting doilies, doing a spring clean at the house and using the remaining time to relax while trying a old pattern but with new technique, I managed to come up with another master piece. The favorit and well knowen Pineapple pattern worked in to a round, 172 cm meassuring tablecloth.
The name pineapple in English comes from the similarity of the fruit to a pine cone.
The word "pineapple", first recorded in 1398, was originally used to describe the reproductive organs of conifer trees (now termed pine cones). When European explorers discovered this tropical fruit, they called them "pineapples" (term first recorded in that sense in 1664) because it resembled what we know as pine cones. The term "pine cone" was first recorded in 1694 to replace the original meaning of "pineapple".

New Doily Rose garden
|
| |
28.03.2008
A rose, my most favorit flower it is. Always wanted to have something with a rose pattern. Now, a big thank you to my customers I have to say to ask for this special doily, I always wanted to make. Since it hase some roses in the center, I just called it rose garden.
The rose has always been valued for its beauty and has a long history of symbolism. The ancient Greeks and Romans identified the rose with their goddesses of love referred to as Aphrodite and Venus. In Rome a wild rose would be placed on the door of a room where secret or confidential matters were discussed. The phrases sub rosa, or "under the rose", means to keep a secret — derived from this ancient Roman practice.
Early Christians identified the five petals of the rose with the five wounds of Christ. Despite this interpretation, their leaders were hesitant to adopt it because of its association with Roman excesses and pagan ritual. The red rose was eventually adopted as a symbol of the blood of the Christian martyrs. Roses also later came to be associated with the Virgin Mary.
Rose culture came into its own in Europe in the 1800s with the introduction of perpetual blooming roses from China. There are currently thousands of varieties of roses developed for bloom shape, size, fragrance and even for lack of prickles.

New Tablecloth Fasan
|
| |
18.03.2008
I am happy, to announce another amazing craft work, a beautiful, hand crocheted Table Topp, which I called "Fasan". This beautiful design is not only a well designed addition to exclusive furniture. Put carefully on a dark background and framed, it would also make a amazing wall decoration.
Fasan or Pheasant are characterised by strong sexual dimorphism, with males being highly ornate with bright colours and adornments such as wattles and long tails. Males are usually larger than the females, and have longer tails. Males play no part in rearing the young.
